Physical properties

The oxygen atoms form a regular octahedron, and the nickel atom is in the center; and vice
versa. The oxygen atom is also in the regular octahedron formed by the nickel atom. The whole crystal can be seen as a staggered arrangement of face-centered cubic Ni and also face-centered cubic O.
Chemical nature
If used and stored in accordance with the specifications, it will not decompose. There are no known hazardous reactions. Avoid contact with halogens, hydrogen peroxide, hydrogen sulfide, etc.
Nickel oxide prepared at low temperature has chemical activity. Nickel oxide prepared at high temperature at 1000 ℃ is greenish-yellow with low activity.
The color turns yellow when heated. When heated to 400°C, it absorbs oxygen in the air to produce high nickel oxide (Ni2O3), and at 600°C, it is reduced to NiO. The reaction formula is: 4NiO+O2==400℃==2Ni2O3, 2Ni2O3==600℃==4NiO+O2.
