Analysis Point Cloud Surface Fit
Point Cloud Tool Tab
Use this command to analyze
the distance between individual points in a point block and a given surface
that was fitted through the point block. The
ratio of a given point distance to the surface
and the user specified max. distance range value determines the color of a point.
A "perfect fit" (or ratio value of 0.0) is green, a "1/2 of max range" (or ratio value of 0.5) is yellow, and a distance outside the max. range (>= 1.0 ratio value) is red. Any value in between will be mapped to the standard linear RGB color gradient of green->yellow->red.
This command also shows the min/max/average distances in the message area.
If STL or tessellated data is selected as the "input points" they are first blanked before the resultant color mapped vertices are displayed. They can be accessed by unblanking them.

Color Range
This shows the color range values set by Max. Range below.

Max. Range
This sets the range of distance values that can be shown with the available gradient color. Any measured distance equal or larger that the value set in this field will be shown in red. You can use this to set the analysis threshold.
