Local Coordinate Frame
Object Editor (Part
Level)
Use this command to assign a datum plane as
the active local coordinate frame. Any coordinate input will be referenced
relative to this frame and not the default world origin.
The Standard View commands (e,g., top, front, right,...) will adjust to a local coordinate frame. This means that the Top View refers to the top view of the active local coordinate frame.
Right-click on a datum plane and select Local Coord to execute the command.
More about Local Coordinate Frame
A "LocalCoord" operation is logged to the active part's history during this command. Here are some tings to consider when a local coordinate frame is assigned.
Absolute coordinates entered from the command line are assumed to be relative to the active coordinate frame.
Relative coordinates entered from the command line are assumed to be relative to the active coordinate frame.
The coordinate readout (Ctrl-K) at the bottom right-hand side of the graphics window and in the Inquire Coordinate command is displayed relative to the active local coordinate frame.
If the datum plane that defines the active coordinate frame is deleted, then coordinate input/output reverts back to the world origin.
To revert back to the world origin, assign the default XY datum plane as the new local coordinate frame.
