Tools (Drawing Sheet Level)
Use the Table Manager to create data tables
using a spreadsheet style interface. Data tables can be used to document
tabulated information such as hole patterns, bill of materials (BOM),
families of parts, etc.
The Table Manager is used to create new tables and insert them onto a drawing sheet. Edit, delete, import and export functions are also available. Refer to the documentation below. Tables created using the Create BOM Table command are also stored in the Table Manager. Use the Regen option to update BOM tables. Tables can be blanked and unblanked if desired.
New - Creates a new data table. Enter a name for the table. When you press the <Enter> key, the Table Editor is displayed (see below).
Insert - Inserts the currently selected data table onto the active drawing sheet. Select the table insertion point (i.e., origin). A preview of the table will be displayed.

Edit - Loads the currently selected data table into the Table Editor (see below) for editing.
Regen - Regenerates a BOM table defined using the Create BOM Table command. This option will overwrite any manual changes made to the BOM table using the Table Editor below.
Import - Imports a comma delimited *.vxt, *.csv or *.txt file. You can also import *.xls (Microsoft® Excel) files. However, Excel must be installed on the same computer that VX is running on. Select the file to import and pick Open. It will be displayed in the list of tables. You can then use the Edit function above to load it into the Table Editor.
Export - Exports the currently selected data table to a comma delimited *.vxt, *.csv or *.txt file. You can also export to a *.xls (Microsoft® Excel) file. However, Excel must be installed on the same computer that VX is running on. Enter a file name and then pick the Save button to export it.
Dismiss - Closes the Table Manager.
The Table Editor provides a spreadsheet-like interface for creating data tables. Select a cell to edit and the right-click to enter the data. Row and column headers work in the same manner. Controls are provided for row and column totals and table attributes. Refer to the table below for more information. Do not use this editor to manually change a BOM table (see Regen option above).
In BOM tables, balloon labels are associated with the table entries. If you change the number of a label, the label will update.

Table Editor - Refer to the Insert option of the Table Manager above to see how this data table will look on a drawing sheet.
Rows/Columns - Sets the total number of rows and columns. You can ignore these controls until after all of your data is entered. The values will automatically adjust to your data. You can then use these controls to increase the size of the table if desired.
Attributes - Displays the Table Attributes Form (see below). Attributes changes will be applied to the active table.
Reset Size - This button resets the rows/columns to their default size.
Keep Size - This is a toggle button. When selected (pushed in) the size of each row and column is extracted from the Table Editor (i.e., what you see is what you get). When it is not selected, each row and column is calculated to fit the text in each cell. You can resize each row and column individually by dragging its border using the left mouse button.
OK - Accepts the table and adds it to the Table Manager (see above).
Cancel - Closes the Table Editor without saving the table data.
Table Attributes Form - General Tab
The General tab of the Table Attribute Form sets the general attributes for the data table. These include margins, captions, origin, grid lines and grid colors. These attributes only apply to the table currently displayed in the Table Editor (see above). The OK, Reset and Cancel buttons apply for both the General and the Text tabs of the form.

Horz./Vert. Margins - Sets the amount of horizontal and vertical margin. For example, a larger value for the horizontal margin will make each column in the table wider. A larger vertical margin value will make the rows taller.
Caption - Select None, Row, Column or Both to determine if the row and column header captions are included in the table.
Origin - Sets the location of the table origin. This is the table insertion point during the Insert option of the Table Manager (see above). Select from Upper-Left, Upper-Right, Lower-Left, Lower-Right or Center.
Grid Lines - Check the box next to the grid lines (Border, Horz and Vert) that you want drawn when the table is inserted.
Grid Color - Select a color that will be drawn for each of the grid lines (Border, Horz and Vert) when the table is inserted.
OK - Accepts the table attributes and closes the form.
Reset - Resets the table attributes to their previous values.
Cancel - Closes the form without changing any table attributes.
Table Attributes Form - Text Tab
The Text tab of the Table Attribute Form sets the attributes for all text included in the data table. These include font, type, character settings, alignments and color. These attributes only apply to the table currently displayed in the Table Editor (see above). The OK, Reset and Cancel buttons apply for both the General and the Text tabs of the form.

Font- Select the single and/or double byte text fonts for the table text. The font selected will appear in the preview window. The font number to the left of the font name is used during the Show Text Font Table command.
Font
Type - Refers to the character width plus Spacing (see below)
for each character in the font. This is referred to as the bounding box
of the font. Select from the following:
Normal - An appropriate bounding box will be determined by the
system.
Proportional - The character width remains proportional to each
individual character.
Fixed - The character width remains fixed and is determined by
the Height and Aspect
attributes (see below).
Height - The actual character height measured from the base to the cap of the character.
Aspect - The factor of height defined as character width divided by character height.
Spacing - The factor of character height defined as the distance between characters.
Horizontal
- The manner in which the text is aligned horizontally about the insertion
point. Select from the following:
Normal - The appropriate mode is determined by the system.
Left - The insertion point is located on the left side of the text
string.
Center - The insertion point is located in the center
of the text string.
Right - The insertion point is located on the right side of the
text string.
Vertical
- Refers to how the text is aligned vertically about the insertion point.
Select from the following:
Top - The insertion point is offset (0.2 x Height) above
the cap of the text string.
Half - The insertion point is located at the mid point of the text
string.
Bottom - The insertion point is offset (0.2 x Height) below
the base of the text string.
Text Color - Sets the color for all text in the data table.
OK - Accepts the table attributes and closes the form.
Reset - Resets the table attributes to their previous values.
Cancel - Closes the form without changing any table attributes.
