CAM Speed Feed Manager
Edit
Speeds and Feeds…
The CAM Speed Feed Manager works like the CAM Tool and CAM Machine Manager and allows you to copy speed feed tables from a "library" A default library path can be created from the VX Configuration Form (Utilities > Configuration…). The "search keys" to the left of buttons operate in the traditional way. See CAM Form Filters for more information.
Interfacing
with the CAM Speeds and Feeds Manager
The CAM Speed Feed Manager is accessed by selecting Edit > Speeds and Feeds… from the pull down menu. Refer to CAM Speed Feed Manager Form below.
The CAM Speed Feed Manager Form
This form is your primary interface with the CAM Speed Feed Manager. With it you can define the properties and associations of a speed feed table. You can also access speed feed tables from other speed feed libraries. A speed feed library is any VX CAM plan containing speed feed tables. See Library below for more information.

Definition
Name...
The CAM Object Name List is displayed showing the Speed Feed Tables that are currently defined in the active CAM plan. Select a Speed Feed Table from the list and its definition will populate the form or enter a new name.
Class
This defines the class of the machining process used by the active Speed Feed Table. Enter a class or select an existing class from the list. This parameter is optional.
Speed Feed Table
This displays the Speed Feed Table that is currently being defined. Use it to define the actual speed feed values. See CAM Speed Feed Table for more about this form.
Associations
You can create speed feed associations by Part Material, Tool, Operation Type and Operation Class. (An Operation Class association should not be necessary but may offer a convenience for some users.) These fields are written (and read) as .csv files for those who prefer using spreadsheets for editing these values and then importing them to a VX Speed Feed Library. The associations can be used to filter the Library list of Speed Feed Tables.
Part Material – List Speed Feed Tables associated with this material.
Tool - List Speed Feed Tables associated with this material.
Operation Type - List Speed Feed Tables associated with this operation type.
Operation Class - List Speed Feed Tables associated with this operation class.
Notes
The CAM
Speed Feed Table Form created with each Operation also allows speed
feed values to be copied form other Speed Feed Tables. These
associations can be used to govern the filtering of Speeds/Feeds to copy
values from.
If a Tool
has been assigned to the Operation
and the Tool association is selected,
then Speed Feed Tables created with an association to that tool will be
displayed for selection.
If a Speed
Feed Table has been created with an association to a different tool, it
will not be presented for selection.
If a Speed
Feed Table has NO tool association defined, it will be presented for selection
as well.
If a Material has been assigned to the Part
Component (or Stock) referenced by the Operation, it can also be used
for filtering Speed Feed Tables for selection.
If there is
a conflict in materials, the first found in the list of Operation Features
will be used.
The Operation Type and Class
are always available for filtering Speed Feed Tables.
These associations can be used in any combination.
Library
Every CAM process plan can be considered a Speed Feed Library. This allows you to use Speed Feed Tables from other plans or you can set up a CAM plan to serve as a master Speed Feed Library. The name of the plan is shown to the left of the folder icon and the tool definitions contained in the plan are listed.
Here’s what you can do.
Pick the folder
icon to display the CAM Browser. Use it to select
a path, VX file and a CAM plan within the file. You
can close the browser when you’re done.
When you select
a Speed Feed Table from the list, its definitions will populate the form.
If you
select a Speed Feed Table from a library for use in the active setup,
its definition will be copied to the active CAM plan (i.e., it will be
added to the library of the active CAM plan).
You can pick
the Add to Library -> button
to copy a Speed Feed Table in the active CAM plan (if it’s active in the
form) to the active Speed Feed Table library. It
will be added to the list.
The filter
check boxes to the left of the Definition
and Association parameters are
used to filter the list of Speed Feed Tables in the active library on
the right. Place
a check next to a parameter and then pick Apply
Filter -> to filter the library list with only those Speed Feed
Tables.
You can pick the Delete button to delete a Speed Feed Table from the active library.
