Merge
Component
Insert
Shape (Standard)
![]()
Create a shape feature from
a component. The component itself is not deleted but the instance of the
component in the active part is. Supported methods include base, add,
remove and intersect.
If
the instanced part has components (i.e., it's a sub-assembly), they are
also merged by this command. You
can merge a component that has no geometry and then complete the geometry
later (See Top Down Assembly Design).
Any 3D constraints that exist for the component do not propagate to the new shape. See Merging / Extracting Component (for Mold Design) and CAD Tips & Techniques for more information.
The Add, Remove and Intersect methods are similar to the Combine Components command.

|
Base - Base features are used to define the initial basic shape of a part. The Base method is automatically selected if the active part has no shape geometry. If geometry exists, this method creates a separate base shape. |
|
|
Add - Add material to the active part. |
|
|
Remove - Remove material from the active part. |
|
|
Intersect - Return the intersection of material with the active part. |

Merge Component - "Add" Method |
Component - Select the component to merge or middle-click to Create a Feature Component.
Merge component curves - Merge into the active parent any wireframe geometry that exist in the component.
Layer - Specify the layer name to put the component geometry on. If it does not exist it will be created. Pick the folder icon to select a layer using the Layer Manager.
Boundary - Select any bounding faces if the component is an open shape. These faces will serve to close the open shape.
