PARTshell Check In (2D)
Applications
PARTsolutions (Sketch/Sheet
Level)
Use this command to "check in" a native VX drawing sheet into PARTsolutions. It is highly recommended that you build your VX drawing sheet with this in mind. Once the drawing sheet in checked in, you can create new records in the variable table within PARTsolutions for deriving a family of drawing sheets based on your original VX drawing sheet. Refer to the PARTsolutions documentation about using the PARTviewer application. A valid license of PARTsolutions is required to operate this command.
To create a string variable
use the Inset>Variable
command and then put quotes (") around the string. To use the string
variable in text, use the syntax "[$strvar]". The text creation
code will replace [$strvar] with the string that is stored in the variable
named "strvar". Only 3D parts are fully parametric.
Any drawing sheet that is checked
into PARTsolutions is static (i.e., variables can not be used to build
and/or modify the 2D geometry). There is one exception to that rule and
it is string variables that are used in text.
When the VX drawing sheet in
checked into PARTsolutions, all variables of this type are exported.
The names of the variables that
you define in VX will be displayed in PARTsolutions for that drawing
sheet.
The preview of the VX drawing
sheet created for PARTsolutions will be based on the current display
of the drawing sheet when this command is executed. Make sure that you
position and zoom the drawing sheet as desired before executing this command.
Once this command is executed and the VX drawing sheet is checked into PARTsolutions, the active VX file is cleared from the active session.
Position and zoom the VX drawing sheet as desired (see above).
Pick PARTshell Check In from the PARTsolutions Menu.
The drawing sheet is exported to PARTsolutions and the active session is cleared of the file containing the drawing sheet. A file browser is displayed for locating the drawing sheet within PARTsolutions.
Select the folder within PARTsolutions where the component will be located. By default, a folder called "Native Parts" is created and opened.
The PARTviewer application is loaded and the VX drawing sheet that you checked in is displayed.
Use PARTviewer functionality to create new records in the variable table within PARTsolutions for deriving a family of drawing sheets based on your original VX drawing sheet.
Exit PARTviewer when desired.
