Installation Guide
Install VX Components
This form is displayed when you select Custom Installation from the Installation Type Form. It allows you to select which VX components to install. Refer to the topics below for more information about each component.
Select the VX components to install.
Pick Next > to continue to the VX Install Path Form (see below) or one of the other option as desired.
Install the VX program and support files
Installs the minimum number of files required to run VX. See VX Install Path Form below and continue with steps 3-6.
Install the VX online help and documentation
Installs all of the VX online help and printed manual documentation (PDF files). See VX Install Path Form below and continue with steps 3-6.
Install a VX user directory
Installs a user directory. This is a directory where VX will be executed from. At least one user directory per version of VX is required. Additional user directories may be added at any time.

Install a VX password
Installs a new password. A password is required to run VX. Upgrading from one point release to a whole number release (e.g., from 7.1 to 8.0) also requires a new password.

Install the VX license server
Installs the VX license server. Every VX license is a floating license. A single license can be used on more than one machine, however only one machine can use the license at a time. If you intend to use the single license as a floating license you will need to install the VX license server program.

Install third part translator passwords
Installs third party translator passwords for CATIA import, CATIA export, Pro/ENGINEER import and Unigraphics import.

Other Options
View Readme - Displays the VX Readme file.
Help - Loads the VX online help.
< Prev - Returns to the VX Installation Type Form.
Next > - Accepts the selections and displays the appropriate form related to the first VX component selected.
Cancel - Cancels the VX installation.
This form is displayed when you pick Next > from the Install VX Components Form (see above). The op sequence is continued from above.
VX Install Path Form
The default directory
for the install path is displayed. You can accept it, enter a different
install path or pick Browse to display the Directory
Browser to locate and select the install path.
If you select an install path using the Directory
Browser, the path "\VXCorp\VX-x.xx" will be appended to
the selected path and displayed in the window.
When you are satisfied
with the install path, pick Next > to continue.
If the install
path does not exist, pick Yes to create it.
The VX Installation Status Form displays the progress of the
VX program installation and the VX online help installation (if selected).
Make sure that the permissions are setup properly. You can do this when you finish the installation process. Pick Continue.
