Sheet Metal Bends
Sheet Metal Tool
Tab
Use these commands to work with sheet metal bends. You can display bend information, mark faces as bends, change a bend radius and angle. When displaying bend information, you can log the information as variables to us in any expression, equation or VX macro. refer to the commands below.
A key characteristic of sheet metal parts
are its bend faces. The Sheet Metal Tool Tab contains commands
to fold and unfold
a sheet metal part. In order to perform these commands any bend radii
(other than those created during the Create
Full and Partial Sheet
Metal Flange commands) need to be marked.
Bend radii created during these flange commands are marked automatically. For assigning default sheet metal attributes refer to the Sheet Metal Attributes Form. For this command, only select the inner bend radius face. The face representing the outer bend radius is assigned automatically. Bend faces can be marked while the sheet metal part is in its unfolded state.
Notes
Be sure to use this command on all bends that are not specifically created using the Full or Partial Sheet Metal Flange commands and that the part is subjected to at least one Unfold/Fold operation before modifying the bends using the Change Bend Angle and Change Bend Radius commands. This does not apply to bends added using the create flange commands. Those bends can be edited as soon as they are created.
Use this command to change one or more bend angles of a sheet metal part. For assigning default sheet metal attributes refer to the Sheet Metal Attributes Form. Select the bend face or middle-click to select all bend faces in all shapes in the active part and then enter a new bend angle. You can select the inner or outer bend face. The current bend angle is shown in the Text Input Field.

Use this command to change the bend radius of a full face and partial face sheet metal angle or a bend marked using the Mark Sheet Metal Bend command. You can change one or more bend radii at a time or middle-click to change all bend radii in all shapes in the active sheet metal part. Use the Sheet Metal Attributes Form to set the default bend radius for new flanges.
Use this command to display the bend information for a selected sheet metal bend. Use the Sheet Metal Attributes Form to set the default values for these attributes. You can select the inner or outer bend face. Middle-click to display the Bend Information Form and to select additional bends. The form will update accordingly.
Optional Inputs
Variable - Use this option to log variables to the active part's history whose values equal the inquired bend radius, neutral radius, angle, thickness, K-factor and flat tolerance. The variables can then be used in any expression, equation or VX macro.
