User Access:
This command can be accessed via the Associate command on the drawing Edit pulldown menu. It may also be invoked via the Associate/disassociate entities button on the Tools tab of the Layout toolbar.
User Impact:
This command will allow individual entities (like geometry) to be associated with a view. Associated entities will be able to be scaled, moved, etc..with a view. Dimensions attached to associated entities will also update during the regen process and will NOT turn red (indicating loss of associativity). Entities can only be associated to a single view and a view cannot be associated to another view. Entities may be unassociated (disassociated) from a view by executing the command and middle clicking when prompted to enter the view.
11225 - The hatching attribute of detail view
User Access:
In order to access the new functionality, the user needs to create a detail view of a section view.
User Impact:
The impact to the user is that the hatch areas in detail views are now actual hatch objects which inherit the attributes of the original hatch area and can be modified via the hatch attributes form. Also, issues regarding the scale of the hatch lines have been corrected by creating an actual hatch area instead of simply clipping hatch lines.
12770 - (TR) section of threads by trimmed part and ignore hidden lines
User Access:
In order to exercise the new functionality, the view of the part must be created in version 12.55 (or later). Nothing else has changed.
User Impact:
If a section view has been cut and the user has opted not to display hidden lines (by setting the hidden line type to IGNORE), the threads and centerlines on holes which are marked as hidden will also not be displayed.

14799 - Enrich of layout attributes for face color and layers
User Access:
Access to either piece of new functionality is via the View Attributes form. For line types which may be projected to 2D (visible, hidden, tangent, tangent hidden & visible and hidden 3D curves), the option "FROM PART" has been added to the color button. Selecting the "FROM PART" option means that the color used to display the line type is the same color as the corresponding edge in 3D. In the case of lines resulting from a section cut, the FROM PART color is taken from the associated face. The option "FROM PART" has also been added as a possible selection for the layer of projected line types. Processing for FROM PART layers is similar to the processing for color. If a layer in 3D does not exist in 2D, it will be created and the 2D layer manager will be updated.
User Impact:
The user will now be able to display projected edges in 2D using the same color as in the model. If the model changes color, the color of the associated 2D edges will also change. The same thing applies to layers.

17491 - add 'mass' attribute BOM
User Access:
Inquire/Mass Properties
Drawing/Layout/BoM
User Impact:
The "Inquire/Mass Properties" command was upgraded to always log mass, volume and area to the global part variables named "Part_Mass", "Part_Volume" and "Part_Area" if the user does not specify a variable name in the Options form that drives the mass properties command.
These variables may be embedded in text strings in a 2D drawing (e.g. [$Part_Mass], [$Part_Area], [$Part_Volume]) or they can be referenced in a BoM table.
The BoM table functionality was upgraded so the user can use any part variable in the table.
15067 The angle of chamfer dimension to an entity
User Access:
optional "Perpendicular" checkbox field during dimension creation.
User Impact:
allow creation of a chamfer leader dimension that always stays perpendicular to the chamfer edge.
17292 - Gap detection/reporting for n-blend curve/edge loop
User Access:
The discontinuity symbols are shown real time as the boundary curve picks are made for the n-patch command.
User Impact:
As boundary curves are selected
during the n-patch command, graphics symbols are echoed to show curve
chain discontinuities.
Red triangles are used for non-tangent continuous curve segment joints
(effectively, the end points of the resultant n-patch) and orange squares
for all disjointed curve segment end-points.
17867 - We would like to get pick filter on FEM command.
User Access:
The pick filters can be used via the standard pick filter icon during input.
User Impact:
Added standard curve type pick filter support to FEM N-Patch command. The command now supports curve-lists and profile curves along with plain 3d curves and edges.
Surface may be created using any combination of these curve types and tangency support is maintained for curve lists and edges.
14102 - enhance surface merging
User Access:
No change to the UI but the default settings have been slightly changed for better results.
User Impact:
Better tangency control across boundary edges of merged faces.
16365 - Need to form surfaces on 360deg point cloud
User Access:
Use available tessellation/sectioning/surfacing tools to create surfaces from 360 degree scan data.
User Impact:
Improved boundary edge tracing method to help tessellated point data collection, mainly.
17290 - Trim/divide point cloud to plane/surface (before STL generation)
User Access:
The commands are located
under "point cloud" tool bar
as follows:
Point Block tool group->Trim point blocks to planes,
Point Block tool group->Split point blocks with planes
User Impact:
Added commands for splitting
and trimming point cloud blocks using one or more planar objects. They
work similar to their surface or solid trim/split command counter parts.
Any number of point block objects may be trimmed or split simultaneously
via any combination of datum planes, planar faces, and sketches.
For the trim command, the side to keep can be selected.
17291 - Add STL file split utility
User Access:
Use the pull down menu: Utilities->Split STL File.
User Impact:
This is an utility function that splits a standard STL data file into several smaller "slices" and outputs them back as separate STL files. The direction along which the "slices" are cut as well as the number of slices produced may be specified by the user. This will help users load very large STL files into the CAM module, among others.
18774 - (CJW) Surface From Point Cloud does not have history management option
User Access:
The history management option can be found under surface from point cloud file command input form.
User Impact:
The surface from point cloud file command now has the standard history management options - sub-part, backup, encapsulated, and import - just like other import data related commands.
17972 - Red connection line points remained even if command is exited
User Access:
Loft, Drive Curve Loft and Bi Rail Loft use connection lines.
User Impact:
Connection lines disappear when cancelling a command that uses them.
18225 - Show gaps etc. during !CdSfFitBnd
User Access:
Pick boundary curves as before or using the new pick filters.
User Impact:
Added "dynamic boundary curve gap detection during picking" to FEM N-Patch command. Similar to the one from the N-Patch command, it shows all present gaps and tangential discontinuities among selected boundary curves as they are picked.
19195 Please enhance the option 'Enable multiple edge matching' of the command 'Sew' a little more.
19037 ( MH ) command 'extend'
User Access:
extend edge and trim shape with shape
User Impact:
Enhanced extend edge to handle an unusual case of two open edges sharing a vertex but the faces of those open edges do not share an edge that also contains the common vertex of the open edges. I'm just doing a linear extension for the new uv curve.
Added some error messages for CdCvSSi. No message was given if a degenerate curve was attempted. Also the command completed if no curves were created.
SSiOutAddPoly used to allow creation of curves with less than tolerance length if the number of points in the polyline was larger than 2, now it doesn't. (Versioned change to 1260)
10378 - Dynamic sectioning not working on assembly in Wireframe mode
User Access:
dynamic sectioning
User Impact:
section curves now consider components and local geometry..
14256 - (OG) Merging components does make lose hole/thread attributes
User Access:
There is no change in user access.
User Impact:
Centerline & thread info for holes is not lost when components are merged.
17298 - Add command for face inlay of text curves
User Access:
Inlay command; a solid operation. Select face, curves, offset distance, draft angle and fillet radius.
User Impact:
User can now quickly pick, embed, and offset a set of Wireframe curves (as generated by, for example, a text outline mapped onto a face) on a face in one command. The offset may be drafted and filleted. This operation can also be performed using a sequence of existing commands. Thus, the new command may be viewed in one sense as a picking shortcut (albeit in most cases a huge one) as all new faces and edges are recorded and tracked through execution of the command.
This command is a counterpart to the emboss command. Emboss is pixel-based rather than Wireframe curve-based and modifies surface geometry rather than face topology.
17934 - Vertex chamfer has no echo
User Access:
User will access the vertex chamfer just like before.
User Impact:
User will use vertex chamfer command as before but now there will be an echo of the chamfer during the execution of the command.

17498 - Alt-Roll pick
User Access:
Alt-Roll-MMB
User Impact:
Rolling the mouse wheel with the Alt key held down (Alt-Roll) is equivalent to pressing tapping the F6 key. It scrolls through alternate picks when there are multiple valid picks on top of each other. Unlike F8 or Shift-Roll, it does not search for picks that satisfy other filter settings -- only picks that are valid under the active filter setting -- the ones you would get with Alt-Pick or Ctrl-Alt-Pick.
17461 - make all cycle fields available as variables for output
User Access:
option 'Along - distance' keeps previous value
13337 - Enrich of UmPart

17293 - 3D Profile Mill
User Access:
Field "Tool
Side" has three options of On, Left and Right from the selected profiles.
If it is On,
all curve offsets are ignored. The tool side will be determined by looking
down from z-axis and facing towards the picking direction of the profile
feature.
Field "Cutting Order" has three options of Automatic,
Pick Order and Min Distance. If it is Automatic, the system
determine the cutting order. If
it is Pick Order, the tool path will follow exactly the order picked by
a user.
Field "Start Point" specifies the start position or closest start
position of the tool paths.
Vertical Thick allows the tool path to be translated along the z-axis direction.
Gouging checking may be ignored if negative vertical thick is given.
All 3D curve lists in the operation feature list will be machined directly
if there is no part surface geometry selected.
User Impact:
3x surface engraving can now machine directly 3D curve profiles with tool side as on, left or right. It accepts all kinds of milling tools. Four new fields have been added to 3x surface engraving operation definition. They include "Tool Side", "Cutting Order", "Vertical Thick" and "Start Point".
17518 - Gillette no user definable clearance on Clamps etc so tool breaks
User Access:
In mill2, users need to add the clamps or tables in the operation feature list for the system to check tool avoidance. All clamps and tables use horizontal clearance as the default tool clearance. Users are able to specify difference clearance by defining surface containments with difference offsets.
User Impact:
Use horizontal clearance as the default clamp clearance. Mill2 will also accept surface containments with user-defined offsets.
17976 - We want you to enhance the Linear linear mode of Engage/Retract in profilecut.
User Access:
New parameter "Safe Distance (H2)" will be used for the first linear motion of the option linear linear (for both engage and retract). The parameter "Safe Distance" will be used for the second linear motion for the option.
User Impact:
More user control for option linear linear of automatic engage and retract in profile cut and chamfer cut operations in mill2.
16196 - (SW) Output of cl file wrong
User Access:
Users can use fields "Tool Home Start" and "Tool Home End" to input tool starting and end points specifically. Field "Four Axis Plane" allows users to specify the 4-axis plane normal for 4-axis machining.
User Impact:
All 5x operation definition forms now have separated fields for the tool home start and tool home end. A new field, named as "Four Axis Plane", is added for 5xis PlaneCut, 5x sidecut, 5x drive cut and 5x isocut to allow users to specify the tool axis plane normal for corresponding four-axis machining.
15119 - (TM)Incremental step to mill 'side surfaces' during SWARF
User Access:
Four new fields are added
for 5x swfcut operations, including:
1. Side Cast Offset: to define the side material offset to be machined
on drive surfaces.
2. Side Cut Depth: to define the cut depth for each side cut.
3. Side Cut Pattern: To define the cutting pattern of all side cuts on
each cutting level. Two options of one way and ZigZag
are available. In one way, all side cuts follow the cutting mode of either
climb or conventional. In zigzag, only the last side cut on each level
follows the specified cutting mode. The rest ones will cut materials in
the zigzag pattern.
4. Depth Cut Order: To determine to cut side first on each level or to
cut down to the base (part) surfaces first for each side cut.
User Impact:
The enhancement added
new fields to allow users to machine drive surfaces in side depths and
part surfaces in base depths with either side cut first
on each level or base cut first for each side cut.
13640 - Specification of addressing the path of the tool axis change
User Access:
To Input axis directions, press field "Axis Directions" and then right click the mouse in the display screen. Four options will then pop up as On curve, On face, Curve normal, Face normal. In On curve (or On face), a axis direction can only be selected with its origin exactly on a curve (or on a face).
User Impact:
A new field, "Axis
Directions", is added to the 5x drive curve operation definition
form. It allows users to specify tool axis along each driving curve.
Also, a new option, named as "User Defined", is added to field
"Axis Control". When this option is selected, the tool axis
and tip will be determined solely by the driving curves and the selected
axis directions. All other options of axis control accept users' axis
directions but the tool tip points will be calculated based on local part
geometry along the driving curves.
13641 - Creating the tool pass along the UV of the surface
User Access:
Each 5x isocut operation must have drive surface(s) selected in its feature list with general surfaces input as the cutting target. The guide surface defined by a drive surface forces tool axis to follow its normals along the isolines. If field "Cut Drive Surface" is toggled as "Yes", the drive surfaces will be served as the cutting target in addition to other general surfaces in the feature list. If "No", the drive surfaces will be ignored. The cutting pattern consist of two options: one way and zigzag. The iso direction will be either U-isolines or V-isolines. Conventional or climbing.
User Impact:
5x Isocut using drive surfaces as guide surfaces. Its tool path follows the iso-lines of each guide surface.
16276 - The collision check of the shoulder.
User Access:
The Limiting.Gauge.Shoulder enables or not shoulder checking.
User Impact:
It requires accurate Stock definition.
14140 - (CJW, VXG, DIM) CAM Quickmill not respecting cutter flute height and doesn't make full shoulder-stock check
User Access:
New parameters to enable Tool Shank and Shoulder collision are present on the Limiting.Gauge form.
User Impact:
Both analysis require accurate stock description.
14668 - (TM)Clamp, Tables protection Offset

15732 - In Cam the system should warn if profile is open
User Access:
To check gaps for a curve list, select "Edit" on the profile and click on the curve list with the left mouse button. The system will then show if the list has gaps between its curves and the location where the maximum gap is.
User Impact:
Enable the cam feature manager to warn a user if the profile he uses is "open" with gaps between its curves. This enhancement will help the user to select the proper open/close option from cam profiles.
17179 - We want to select hole features by Hole Axis filter in adding hole feature.
User Access:
If an axis is specified in the filter, only those holes with the same axis will be selected. If the filter is not defined, all picked holes will be accepted.
User Impact:
In CAM hole
feature, a new filter named as "Hole Axis"
is added to allow users to selected holes for each given hole axis.
17473 - Pick a face or group of faces, have external boundary as a profile
User Access:
In addition from curves and sketches, cam profiles can be selected from surfaces or cad features. The system automatically calculates the open boundary curves from the selected surfaces. If there is no open curves, the silhouettes of the selected surfaces will then be extracted. For VX MILL3 Finishing, cam profiles is now optional. Here is how the CAM mill3 define the cutting regions: If no profiles added in the operation feature list, the system calculates profiles from the surface open boundaries or silhouettes, otherwise as usual, the cutting region will only be defined by the profiles specified by the user. However, users must define profiles for 3X profile cut and surface engraving.
User Impact:
CAM cutting regions can be defined from open boundary curves of the selected surfaces or surface silhouettes.
17638 - graphical CAM feature selection
User Access:
CAM Manager/Operation/Add Feature
