CAM Clipboard Manager
Edit (CAM Level)
The CAM Clipboard Manager provides the capability
to copy CAM objects within and between CAM process plans. The form is
discussed in detail below. Additional
operating notes are also provided.
Set the Object Class to display.
Select an object from the list
and pick Cut or Copy to cut/copy it to the clipboard. You
can also middle-click and select a command after selecting the object
from the list. If you want to paste the object in the clipboard, make
sure the object class matches the object type being pasted and then pick
the Paste button or middle-click and select Paste from the
menu.
Object Class
The Object Class is used to specify the class of the object to cut. copy, or paste. When a class is selected, all objects of that class appear in the list. Select from the following classes: Component, FeatureGroup, Machine, Tool, Speed Feed, Setup, Process, Tactic and Macro.
Other Options
All object names in the list have one of the symbols listed below preceding it. The +/- modes of displaying objects can be toggled by double left-clicking the object's name in the list.
* - This is a self-contained object. No other objects are defined within it.
+ - This object may have other objects defined within it.
- - This object has other objects defined within it, expanded form. Objects defined within this object have their names listed immediately below it.
Cut - Pick Cut to remove the selected object from the current plan and place it in the clipboard.
Copy - Pick Copy to place a copy of the selected object in the clipboard.
Paste - Pick Paste to paste copies the selected object from the clipboard into the current plan. The object is automatically renamed to ensure there will be no conflict with objects already in the target plan.
The Cut, Copy, and Paste commands can also be accessed by middle-clicking the mouse anywhere within the list region of the form.
Only one CAM object can be in
the clipboard at a time. If more than one object is selected, the most
recent selection (the last one) will be kept in the clipboard.
Objects in the clipboard may
be pasted back into the plan they originated in, or they can be copied
into a new plan by exiting the current plan and entering another.
Some classes of CAM object are
dependent upon others. For example: Operation Definition objects only
exist within Tactics. In order to cut/copy an Operation Definition, the
class must be set to Tactic and a Tactic must be expanded to reveal
the names of the Operation Definitions within it. An Operation Definition
should be selected and then it can be cut/copied. In order to past an
Operation Definition, the class must be set to Tactic and a Tactic must
be selected (i.e., highlighted).
Another class dependency is the
Frame object located within the Setup object. Frames may be pasted into
other Setups within this plan or in different plans. However, Frames must
be pasted into another Setup.
When an Operation Definition is pasted into a new Tactic, any associated tool path does NOT accompany it.
