CAM Speed Feed Table Form
All Operation Definition Forms (CAM Level)
Speeds/Feeds are defined individually for
each operation. The
data is referred to as a Speed/Feed table. The
table is given the same name as the operation. By
picking the Speeds Feeds button
from the Parameters form for any tool path, the following form is displayed.
Speeds and Feeds provide a base Rough and base Finish rate. These rates are used for general cutting conditions. The other feeds/speeds types listed may be defined separately from these base rates. You have the option of defining an explicit rate (just a number or simple equation) or defining these values as a % of the base rate.
For a finish tool path (defined in the CAM Plan Manager tree as the Operation's "class") any speed or feed value followed by the % sign (which you must type into the field after the value) will be computed from the appropriate finish or rough value. The % sign is not accepted for the base rates because these must be absolute numbers upon which the others may depend.
Because each operation has its own Speeds/Feeds table, VX allows the values to be copied from other operations to save re-typing but allowing for customization for each operation.
Units
- Defines the units for the tool spindle speeds. Select from the list
of units:
RPM - Revolution Per Minute
SMM - Surface Meters Per Minute
Rough - Defines the spindle speed for rough motions.
Finish - Defines the spindle speed for finish motions.
Step-over - Defines the spindle speed for step-over motions.
Plunge - Defines the spindle speed for plunge motions.
Approach - Defines the spindle speed for approach motions.
Retract - Defines the spindle speed for retract motions.
Traversal - Refers to the speed for rapid traverse.
Slotcut - The speed/feed associated with cutting a slot, that is when the cutting tool is in maximum contact with material.
Slowdown - The speed/feed value that is applied to the "slowdown" segments of a Tool path (slowdown is usually used in combination with corner control in hi-speed milling).
Units
- Defines the units for the spindle feed rates. Select from the list of
units:
IPF - Inch Per Flute
MMPF - Milli-Meter Per Flute
MMPR - Milli-Meter Per Revolution
IPM - Inch Per Minute
IPR - Inch Per Revolution
Rough - Defines the spindle feed rate for rough motions.
Finish - Defines the spindle feed rate for finish motions.
Step-over - Defines the spindle feed rate for step-over motions.
Plunge - Defines the spindle feed rate for plunge motions.
Approach - Defines the spindle feed rate for approach motions.
Retract - Defines the spindle feed rate for retract motions.
You can create speed feed associations with Part Material, Tool, Operation Type and Operation Class. (An Operation Class association should not be necessary but may offer a convenience for some users.) The associations can be used to filter the Library list of Speed Feed Tables. See CAM Speed Feed Manager for more information.
Part Material - Associate this Speed Feed Table with part material.
Tool - Associate this Speed Feed Table with a tool.
Operation Type - Associate this Speed Feed Table with an operation type.
Operation Class - Associate this Speed Feed Table with an operation class.
Copy Values from another Table - The CAM Object Name List is displayed showing the Speed Feed Tables that are currently defined in the active CAM plan. Select a Speed Feed Table from the list and its definitions will be copied to populate the form.
OK - Accept the current Speed Feed Table and close the form.
Reset - Reset the current Speed Feed Table to its previous defaults.
Cancel - Close the form without saving any changes.
