Insert Component Updated for the current release.

Invoked ByInsert go to Component (Part Level)

icon274.gifInserted ComponentsUse this command to insert a component as a child of the active part. A component can be an instance (reference) of a part or a copy. You can insert a component from the active file or from another file.

The required inputs include the part to insert and where to locate it in the active assembly. Optional inputs include forcing the component to regenerate automatically when its parent part is regenerated, using the component's default handles and flagging it for deletion if its parent (i.e., the active assembly) is deleted.

Tips & Techniques (Non-Graphic Components)

Tips & TechniquesYou can insert a "non-graphic" component in an assembly in order to document product components like grease and wire.  This is done by creating a new part that has no geometry and putting the description of the non-geometric component in the Part Attribute Form.  The prompts for an insertion point and alignment constraints are skipped.

This information will then be listed in the assembly's Parts List and Bill of Materials.  If the non-graphic part is created with default datum planes, these datum planes must be deleted or VX will not recognize the part as "non-graphic" (i.e. non-geometric).
