Face Edge Editing
Edit
Edge
Use these commands to edit face edges. You can delete and replace a face's trim loop, split an edge and concatenate (merge) two or more edges. You can select the loops to delete or replace, keep trimmed faces and specify the angle tolerance for matching edges.
Use this command to remove a trim loop from a face.
Optional Inputs
Loop
Select a mode to determine which loops to untrim.
Inner - Delete all inner loops, Outer loop stays the same.
Outer - Delete the current outer loop. The outer edges of the untrimmed surface become the new outer boundary.
All - All loops are removed. The outer edges of the untrimmed surface become new outer boundary.
Selected - Select the loops to be deleted. If one of those selected is the outer loop, then the outer edges of the untrimmed surface become new outer boundary. This option activates the Edges option below for redefining the edges if desired.
Edges
Redefine the edges to untrim. This option is activated by the Selected option above.
Keep trimmed face
Check this box to retain a copy of the face before it is untrimmed.
Use this command to replace a trim loop of a face. The curves selected for the new trim loop will be projected normal to the face. Middle-clicking at steps 2 or 3 below will produce varying results. Trim loops can be added, deleted, or replaced.
Required Inputs
Face - Select the face to modify.
Loops - Select an edge on the loops to be removed or middle-click if no loops are to be removed.
Curves - Select curves for the new trim loops or middle-click if no loops are to be added.
Use
this command to split the edge of a face at a selected point. Select the
edge and then select the split point.
Use this command to concatenate (merge) compatible adjacent
(i.e., sequential) edges on faces.
You can select vertices on face edges to merge
or just let the command find them all, in which case the merge order on
a closed set of edges is arbitrary. The number of successful merges are
reported even if zero (i.e., no edges are merged).
Required Inputs
Vertex - Select the vertices to merge or middle-click to check and merge all vertices.
Optional Inputs
Angle tol - Specify the angular tolerance for matching tangent continuity when determining if two adjacent edges should be combined.
