Editing Layout Views Updated for the current release.

Once a layout view is created, you can use the following commands to edit the view or the part model it is associated with. These commands relate to the layout view as a single entity.

 

A view's individual entities (e.g., lines, arcs, circles, text, etc.) can also be edited using the standard drawing sheet tools provided but are subject to change when the view is regenerated. Refer to the tables below.

 

Replace 3D View Part Replace Layout View Part Updated for the current release.

 

This command replaces the part model associated with a layout view. The new part will then be displayed for that view. First select the layout view to modify. Then specify the new part to reference. You can select from the default list of parts in the active file or pick the folder icon to select another VX file using the File Browser.

 

New in VXYou cannot use this command on anything other than the base view (TOP, BOTTOM, etc..).  Views with a reference view (sections, details, projection, and/or auxiliary views) cannot be used.

 

 

Edit 3D View Label Edit Layout View Label

 

Layout View Label and ScaleThis command modifies the label text of a layout view. You can also use this command to add a label to a view created without one. Select the layout view to modify and then specify the new label text.

 

 

Edit 3D View Scale Edit Layout View Scale

 

This command modifies the scale factor of a layout view. The drawing sheet scale factor is ignored within layout views. The individual view's scale sets the scale factor for that view. The drawing sheet scale factor only applies to "independent" geometry that is not associated with any layout view.

 

 

 

Edit 3D View Attributes Edit Layout View Attributes

This command edits the view attributes for existing layout views. Changes made by this command are only applied to the indicated views. The default view attributes defined in the View Attributes Form are not affected. Refer to the View Attributes Form for a description of each attribute.

 

 

Change 3D View Component Configuration Change Layout View Component Configuration

 

If the referenced assembly of a layout view has multiple component configurations, use this command to change the configuration. First select the layout view to modify.   Then, if the reference assembly has component configuration, select one from the list.

Activate Layout View Part for Editing

 

This command activates the part model associated with a layout view for editing. Right-click on the layout view and select Edit Part from the Object Editor menu. The part will be activated for editing. When you're done editing the part, pick Go up to Parent Objecticon626.gif from the Tool Bar to return to the active drawing sheet.

 

 

Regenerate 3D Layout Views Regenerate Layout Views

 

Use this command to regenerate layout views. This will incorporate the latest part design information into the drawing sheet. Select the views to update or middle-click to update all views. Pick Yes or No to proceed with the update. This command is located on the Tool Bar.

Regenerate unmodified views

Check this box to force the regeneration of any views whose referenced part models have not been modified.
