Use this command at the part
level (3D offset) or the Sketch and Drawing Sheet Levels (2D offset) to
create a curve that is offset from a curve, chain of curves, or face edge.
For a 2D offset, the offset distance and a point to indicate the direction of the offset are specified. 2D offset of single curves may return multiple curves when needed.
Required Inputs
|
|
Offset Curves (3D) For 3D Offset, the most logical offset plane is chosen. The offset direction is determined by a positive or negative offset distance.
|
|
|
Offset Curves on Face (3D) For an On Face offset, curves that lie on the face are offset the specified distance. You can choose the extension method.

Optional Inputs
Offset norm
By default, the most logical offset plane is chosen. Use this option to specify a plane that defines the offset normal. The offset normal must not be parallel to the tangent vector at any given point on the curve or the offset curve is not defined.
Extension
Use this option to control the path of extended curves and surfaces.

Linear - The extension follows a linear path. It keeps extending away from the end in the direction of the tangent, but curvature is not matched. This causes among other things visual discontinuity.
Circular - The extension follows a circular path in the direction of curvature. It matches the existing curvature but if you extend too far it will bend back around opposite to the tangent direction. If you want to extend out to some other curve or surface you may not get there.
Reflect - The extension follows a reflective path opposite the direction of curvature.

Curvature - Allows you to keep the nice properties of both Linear and Circular. It matches curvature at the end and because the curvature reduces, it eventually becomes linear and heads away from the curve or surface end.
Select the curve or
chain of curves to offset.
Specify the offset distance.
Select a point to indicate the
offset direction.
Optional Inputs
OffCount - Specify the total number of offsets.
Insert Arc - Pick Yes or No to insert a full arc at the corners of each connecting line or curve.
Split - Pick Yes or No if the offset curve(s) are to be split if they intersect themselves.
Delete Bowties - Pick Yes or No to automatically remove bowties (closed intersections) from single curve offsets.
