Exploded Assemblies (3D)
Assembly Tool
Tab
Use these commands to create exploded assemblies within the 3D part environment. You can explode the assembly (i.e., make all components visible) toggle the exploded state and edit the exploded assembly (i.e., move components manually). Refer to the commands below.
Use this command to modify the placement of
each component in the assembly to make all components readily visible.
The axis of movement of each component is determined by the component's
current alignment constraints. The explosion is
for visual purposes only and does not modify the actual location of each
component within the assembly.

Tree depth - Use this option to control the extent of the Explode Assembly command. A default value of 1 (counting root level as 0) will suffice when no component in the assembly is itself an assembly. For components that are themselves assemblies, specifying a depth greater than 1 will result in the subassemblies also being exploded (to the level indicated by the depth value).
Toggle Exploded
and Standard View (3D)
Use this command to toggle the exploded display on and off.
Use this command to move a component within the exploded
display. It does not modify the actual component or its assembled location
in any way. Only the exploded display is modified.
Entity - Select the components to move.
Direction - Select the move direction.
Distance - Enter a distance along the move direction or drag the component to the desired location.
Angle - Use this option to specify a rotation angle about the move direction. Enter the rotation angle about the move direction.
Assigning Names to Features (see CAD Tips & Techniques).
If a component has no alignment constraints or if an explode direction cannot be determined based on the current constraints, an attempt is made to determine which component frame axis best moves the part outward.
Use the Explode Assembly command to create an exploded display before using this command. This command is not recorded into the history log.
