Show VX Data ManagerThe Assembly Manager is accessed from the VX Data Manager.  Select this icon from the Tool Bar and then select the Assembly Manager tab.  The Assembly Manager displays information about the active assembly. It is a dockable panel that can be toggled on and off from the Tools menu or by right-clicking in the graphics window with no entity selected or highlighted.

 

You can move and dock the Assembly Manager anywhere on the display. Use the Preview option to highlight the component in the graphics window. This allows you to locate the component in a complex assembly.  Also refer to the Notes section below for more information.

Information about VXOperational Sequence

 

  1. Use the Assembly Manager to view the parent/child relationships of components in the active assembly or right-click on a listed component and select a command from the Object Editor.  See Mouse Button Functionality below.

  2. Pick the close button 1467.gif in the upper right corner of the Assembly Manager to close it.

Left mouse button (left-click)

Select a component or double-click to activate a component for editing.

 

Middle mouse button (middle-click)

Display the Inquire Component Form for a selected component.

 

Right mouse button (right-click)

Display the Object Editor pop-up menu. Select from the options listed below. See Component Tools for more information about many of these options.

Edit Part

 

Activate the highlighted component for editing.  Similar to the Create/Edit Component command.

Rename

Rename the highlighted component.  This is the name of the instance of the component within this assembly only. This is not the name of the source component. Use the Root Object Browser to rename a root object.

Erase

Erase the highlighted component (i.e., remove it) from the assembly. Only the instance of the component (i.e., the reference) is removed. The source component is not deleted.

Insert

Insert a component into the assembly tree as a child of the currently highlighted component. Similar to the Insert Component command.

Blank/Unblank

These options are alternately displayed depending on the blank/unblank state of the highlighted component. Use them to blank or unblank the component. See Component Tools for more information.

Change Part

Change the highlighted component to instance a different part. See Component Tools for more information.

Inquire

Display information about the component using the Inquire Entity Form.

Clone

Clone the highlighted component. This option aids the creation of variant designs from existing parts or assemblies. See Component Tools for more information.

Auto Regen

Updated for the current release.

Use this option to set the Auto Regen status of a component.  Select one of the following options shown below.  The checkmark symbol will appear next to the child component node symbol in the Assembly Manager for the component. Refer to the NOTES section below for more information.

 

  • None - the component is not regenerated when its parent is regenerated.

  • At insertion - the component is regenerated when the operation that inserts it is regenerated.

  • At end - the component is regenerated at the end of the regen of its parent part/assembly.  Components will be regenerated sequentially according to their order of insertion.  It is assumed that components do not reference each other.
