Pick Filters
![]()
Pick filters are used to limit selectable entities to a specific type. If many entities overlap or are close together, using the proper pick filter will make selecting the right entity easier.
As you move the cursor over entities, those that meet the active pick filter will highlight, while others will not (use during Object Editing. The pick filter only applies to selecting entities from the graphics window. See below for more information about each Pick Filter tool.

The pick filter list shows the entity types that the active command prompt is looking for. The list is displayed when the pick filter icon is selected (see above) of when (Shift) key and the right mouse button (RMB) are selected together. When you select an entity type from the list, only those entities can be selected or highlighted. You can pick the Attributes… button (when displayed) to filter by additional attributes (see below).
The active pick filter will be reflected to other 3D pick filter lists that have the same option. For example, if you select "Face" on one list, it will become the default pick filter on other lists if "Face" is an available pick filter.

Sample Pick Filter Lists
3D Attribute Filter
(Part/CAM)
The 3D Attribute Filter is used at the part level to further filter the selection of entities by layer, feature, or color. Entities with the attributes defined in this form will be either included or excluded from a pick selection. The filter will only remain active while the form is displayed.
Layer/Feature - Displays a list of the current layers or features. Select a layer or feature to filter by. The layer or feature name will appear on the form. Select [ignore] to turn layer or feature filtering off.
Color - Display a list of the default VX colors. Select a color to filter by. The color will appear on the form. Select [ignore] from the list to turn color filtering off. Since shapes do not have their own color, the color of the first face associated with the shape is used as its "official" color for filtering purposes.
Include/Exclude - Pick the indicator to either include or exclude any entities matching the above filters during pick selection.
2D Pick Filter
(Sketch/Drawing Sheet)

Entities with the attributes defined in this form will be either included or excluded from a pick selection. The filter will only remain active while the form is displayed.
Entity Filters
Zero/All - Used to select (All) or de-select (Zero) all entity types at once. Some entity filters may not be available depending on the type of input required. Entity filters that are not available will be masked.

Color, Style, Width - Displays a list of the default colors, line styles and line widths. Make a selection to filter by (it will appear on the form). Select [Ignore] to turn the filter off.
