Line (Part Level)
![]()
Use this command to create
a line between two points and parallel to a reference line, edge, or direction.
A reference point is selected that determines the plane on which the line resides and on which side the reference line the offset will occur. A parallel offset distance from the reference line is also specified. The start and end points of the line can be either a distance measured from the origin of the reference line or by 2 points.
Direction
Specify the reference direction. You can select a line or edge or right-click for more input options.
Distance
Specify the offset distance from the reference direction. A positive value will place the line in the direction of the reference point selected in Step 3 below. A negative value will place the line opposite the reference point.
Base point
Specify a reference point. This point will determine the plane of the line and the direction of the offset in conjunction with Step 2 above.
1st point
Specify a distance to the line's start point or middle-click to start the line at the reference point. You can also drag the cursor to a start point.
2nd point
Specify a distance to the end point. This distance is measured from the origin of the reference line and not the start point of the line specified in Step 4 above. As with the start point, you can also drag to the end point of the line.
