Draw a LineLine from 2 PointsUse this command to create a line between two points. At the sketch and drawing sheet levels, using the Entity input option allows you to create lines that are tangent, parallel, perpendicular or at an angle to a reference line. The length and angle of the line is displayed and dynamically updates as the second end point is located.

Information about VXPart Level

Specify the start and end of the line by selecting points or tangent curves.

Information about VXSketch/Drawing Sheet Level

  1. Right-click to display the Input Options Menu and select Entity.  You can now proceed to draw tangent, parallel, perpendicular or angular lines.  Continue with each procedure below.

Information about VXTangent Lines

  1. Position the cursor over the curve, arc, or circle until the tangent symbol 2474.gif appears and select the start point of the line.

  2. Dragging the cursor will display the tangency range of the line.Select the end point.

Information about VXParallel Lines

Right-click to display the Input Options Menu and select Entity.

  1. Position the cursor over the reference line until the parallel symbol Parallel Symbol appears and select the line. A line parallel to the reference line will appear.

  2. Select the start point of the parallel line or specify an offset distance.

If you specify an offset distance, a line offset to the reference line will be created. A positive or negative value determines the offset direction.

  1. If you selected a start point in step 4 select the end point now.

Information about VXPerpendicular Lines

  1. Right-click to display the Input Options Menu and select Entity. Position the cursor over the reference line until the perpendicular symbol 2473.gif appears and select the line. A line perpendicular to the reference line will appear.

  2. Select the start point of the perpendicular line.

  3. Select the end point.

Information about VXAngular Lines

  1. Right-click to display the Input Options Menu and select Entity .

  2. Position the cursor over the reference line until the angular symbol 2472.gif appears and select the line.

  3. Specify the angle of the line.

  4. Select the start point of the line.

  5. Select the end point.

Optional Inputs are documented here.Optional Inputs

From

Constrain the beginning of the line from a point or curve other than the selected start point. Specify the from point/curve of the line.

To

Constrain the end of the line to a point or curve other than the selected end point. Specify the "to point/curve" of the line.
