Component Configurations

Alternate Components

Invoked ByAssembly Design Tool Bar

Use these commands to work with component configurations. Component configuration can be used in conjunction with alternate components.

You can set the required alternates for components within an assembly and then create a component configuration that saves the state of the assembly for later recall.

You can add, delete, activate and inquire component configurations. You can also make one from the active part/assembly. Refer to the commands below.

Add a Component Configuration Add a Component Configuration

Use this command to add a new configuration name to the recorded list of configurations for a component. Enter a name for the component configuration.

Activate a Component Configuration Activate a Component Configuration

Use this command to activate a component configuration. Once activated, each component in the assembly is checked to see if it has an alternate component of the same name. If so, that alternate component is displayed. Once complete, all components are displayed that equal that configuration.

Config

Select the component configuration to activate from the list.

History

Use this option if you want changes in an assembly's configuration to regenerate.  If you are temporarily browsing assembly configurations, you would probably not use this option.

Make Component Configuration from Active Part Make Component Configuration from Active Part

Use this command to create a component configuration from the active part. Each component in the assembly is checked to see if an alternate component is active. If so, the same alternate component is referenced again by the name of this configuration. When this configuration is activated these alternate components are displayed.

If an exploded assembly is on at the time this command is executed it will be saved under the configuration name and displayed when the configuration is activated.

Inquire Component Configuration Table Inquire Component Configuration Table

Use this command to list all configurations assigned to the active assembly. The Component Configurations List is displayed. Pick OK to close the list.

Delete a Component Configuration Delete a Component Configuration

Use this command to delete the component configuration. No actual component or geometry is deleted, only the configuration assignment. Select the component configuration to delete from the list or middle-click to delete all component configurations.

History

Use this option to give the active configuration operation a name and log it to the active part's history. You must enter a name for it to be logged. When the history is regenerated, the operation will activate the specified assembly configuration. Conditional feature suppression can be applied to the operations to drive assembly configurations from an Equation Set.

  1. Enter a name for the active configuration operation or middle-click to skip this option.

  2. Select a configuration from the list to make over or enter a name for a new configuration. The new configuration will be added to the list.
