Part Settings Updated for the current release.

Invoked ByEdit (Part Level)

Use this form to set a variety of part settings.  These settings apply to the active part only.  Refer to the VX Configuration Form for settings that apply to all VX parts.

  1. Adjust the part settings as needed.

  2. Pick OK, Reset, or Cancel.

Part Settings

Units

This is the default units of measurement for a part or assembly.

Tolerance

This setting refers to the default part geometry tolerance measured in the default units. The geometry tolerance is feature dependent. If the geometry tolerance is modified, only newly created features are affected. You can adjust the geometry tolerance for individual features using the Set Feature Tolerance command.

Show back-facing edges as dashed

This refers to edges hidden from view. Pick the check box to show back-facing edges as dashed. Use the VX Configuration Form to set this toggle at VX startup. See VX Note.Back edges are dynamically updated when Dynamic View is active.

Alternate display of free edges

This sets the free edge display mode. If checked, all free edges (openings in a shape) larger than the geometry tolerance are automatically displayed with specific attributes.  These attribute are color = red, width = 2, and style = 2 as defined in the Line Attributes Form.

Auto sew on face creation

This allows edges to be automatically sewn (joined) during many face creation commands to ensure that unwanted gaps between edges are not introduced.

Auto regen on edit

If this is checked, the active part is regenerated automatically each time its history is edited to replace, suppress, unsuppress, delete and reorder features.  This option is set globally using the VX Configuration Form.  Use it here to temporarily change the global setting for the active part only.

Merge shapes before operation

When checked, the base shapes in a boolean or feature operation are merged (boolean addition) before the operator shapes are applied to them. When unchecked, each base shape is operated upon independently, as if the other shapes did not exist.

Use component light sourcesNew in VX

Enable this option to use light sources associated with the first level of components in the active part/assembly in addition to any locally defined light sources.  When disabled, only local light sources (or default lighting) are used.

Setting Up a Light Source Studio New in VX

The Use Component light sources option (see Part Settings Form above) allows you to create components that represent lights (e.g. a spotlight).  The lighting components can be dynamically positioned in a part using the component alignment commands as well as commands for dynamically moving and patterning components.  A lighting component can be individually disabled by blanking it.

Using this option, you can set up a studio with pre-positioned lights.  The part to be rendered can be inserted into the studio as a component.  The studio can be saved and re-used as a pre-defined rendering environment.

Use Coomponent Light Sources - OFF

Use Component light sources option = Enabled (checked)

Use Coomponent Light Sources - ON

Use Component light sources option = Disabled (unchecked)
