Sheet Metal Flange Features
Sheet Metal Tool
Tab
Use these commands to create full and partial sheet metal flange features. The required inputs include edge, angle and length of the flange. Optional inputs include position and bend type as well as relief type for partial flanges. refer to the commands below.
Use this command to add a full face flange to the edge of a sheet metal part. The inner bend radius of the flange is specified by the Sheet Metal Attributes Form.

Use this command to add a partial flange to the edge of a
sheet metal part. The
inner bend radius of the flange is specified by the Sheet
metal Attributes Form.
Required Inputs
(both commands)
Edge
Select the inner edge to add a flange to. Only edges that will produce a valid flange are selectable. A preview echo of the new flange will be displayed.
Angle
Specify the bend angle.
Length
Specify the length of the flange.
Optional
Inputs (both commands)
Position
Use this option to specify the position of the added sheet metal flange. The position of the flange is specified relative to the selected edge.

Inside - The inside face of the flange is positioned coplanar with the edge.
Outside - The outside face of the flange is positioned coplanar with the edge.
Natural - The inner bend radius of the flange begins at the edge.
Bend
Specifies the type of bend to create select from the following options:
Simple - creates a single bend flange.
S bend - creates a double "S bend" flange. Refer to the preview echo to see the S bend flange.
Relief
Use this option to specify the end condition type of relief
to be used. The
width of the relief is determined by the Sheet Metal
Attributes Form at the time the flange is created. This
relief mode will be applied regardless of the mode state of the Position
option.

Rect - A relief of rectangular end condition is created and extends past the bend radius tangent a distance equal to one times the relief width as specified in the Sheet Metal Attributes Form.
Obround - A relief of obround (i.e., full radius) end condition is created and extends past the bend radius tangent a distance equal to one half times the relief width as specified in the Sheet Metal Attributes Form (i.e., the center of the relief radius is located at the bend radius tangent).
None - No relief is created.
Assigning Names to Features (see CAD Tips & Techniques).
To display the flange dimensions (i.e., height and angle), first set the pick filter to Feature. Then, double-click the flange feature to show its dimensions.
