Information about VXThe VX exchange file (*.XVX) is an XDR-based binary-portable encoding of a VX file used to port VX files between hardware platforms without loss of data.  It is an exact translation (byte for byte) of the VX file.

If you get an error message saying "File version [x.x] does not match Object Manager [x.x], open and save the file.  It will be saved using the latest object formats.

The files are converted from .VX to .XVX, or vice-versa, based on their extension.  The conversion is performed automatically during the Open File (Ctrl+O) and Save File As commands by selecting the (*.XVX) extension from the File Type or Save as Type list of the File Browser.

Tips & TechniquesHow the VX Neutral File Differs

The VX exchange file (*.VXN) differs from the VX portable file by being an ASCII neutral file of VX wireframe and surface geometry only.  The VX Neutral file provides a seamless transfer of geometry and topology between VX Classic and VX CAD/CAM (i.e., backward compatibility with VX Classic).
