Find/Replace Name References Updated for the current release.

Invoked ByUtilities go to Find/Replace Name... (Part/Packet/Sheet/CAM Level)

This command displays the Find/Replace Name References Form.  It allows you to specify an old/new file name and old/new object name.  If a field is left empty, it is ignored.  When you press OK or Apply, all references to the specified file or object name are changed to the new names.

All components of an assembly are traversed as well as all sheets within a drawing packet.  Entities that reference objects by "file, name" are components, 3D drawing views, external reference geometry, assembly alignment constraints and any history operation that records a pick on geometry residing outside of the parent part (i.e. external/extended pick).

When you rename an object at the Root Object Level, VX automatically updates all references to the object within the parent file, but it doesn't traverse any linked objects that reside in another file.  You have to go to those external objects and use the Change Part command or use this command where-ever you want to update references to the renamed part.  Be sure to review the Notes section below.See VX Note.

Search

Find but do not replace

Check this box to locate the VX files but not to change them.

New Version

This option can be used when PDM (Product Data Management) is enabled.  Refer to the PDM Tab of the VX Configuration Form for more information.

If a new "File Name" is specified along with "New Version", VX replaces all references to the old file with the specified version of the new file.  VX assumes that the specified file version exists.  The old file is un-mapped even if changes have been made to it. The first time the new file is accesses, VX will search the local user directory, then the directories specified by File go to Search Paths... and then the active PDM vaults, if any.
