Insert Mold Base

Insert Mold BaseUse this command to insert a mold base from the VX standard parts library.  Currently, DME A and B Series, HASCO Type 1 and Futaba mold bases are supported.  Additional mold base libraries are added regularly.  You can also use Utilities go to Part Library… to insert standard parts from VX Part Library files located in the “/part_libraries” directory of your VX installation folder.  This folder contains ANSI and DME standard components.

Tips & TechniquesPart tables, libraries and  mold bases

VX provides many options for creating families of parts (Part Tables) and inserting standard parts and mold bases from libraries.  Here are some options:

  • Select Utilities go to Part Table to open or create a Part Table.

  • Select Utilities go to Part Library to create a component from a VX Part Table.  By default, VX Part Library files are located in the “/part_libraries” directory of your VX installation folder.  This directory contains ANSI and DME standard components.

  • Select Mold & Die (Tool Tab) go to Insert Standard Parts to Insert a Mold Base assembly.

Information about VXBasic Procedure Updated for the current release.

  1. Use the Insert Mold Base Form to select the desired mold base component dimensions.  Currently, DME, FATUBA New in VXand HASCO mold base libraries are supported.  Each form is shown below.

  1. When you’re ready to insert the mold base, pick OK.

The mold base assembly will be created parametrically.  This means that each component in the mold base is created, added to the active file.  A mold base assembly is created with an instance of each component.  It is also added to the active file.

  1. When this is done, VX is waiting for you to specify an insertion point.  Select a point to locate the mold base assembly.

  2. The Align Components command is executed allowing you to constrain the mold base assembly is desired.  Refer to the Align Components command for more about the 3D Constraint options.  Also refer to the Required Inputs section below.

If you don’t need to constrain the mold base assembly, simple middle-click twice to complete the insertion.
