Modify Face Control Points

Invoked ByEdit go to Face go to Modify NURBS go to Control Points

Modify Face Control PointsUse this command to move one or more control points of a face.  If only one control point is selected, it is used as the reference point for the move.  Otherwise, the barycenter of all the picked control points is used.

If you dynamically drag the control points after selecting the Absolute or Grid input option, the reference and destination points will be projected onto the active view plane before finding the offset between them, which is then applied to the control points.

When you select the destination, a feature is logged to the history to record the move. The last set of control points moved remains active.  You can move them again, logging another history option or unselect them using the Unpick All input option.  Then pick a new set of control points to move or middle-click to end the command.

Basic Operational Sequence

  1. Window the control points to move and then middle-click to continue.  You can unpick control points by holding down the Shift key while window picking the points to unpick.

  2. You can also right-click and select Unpick All.

  3. Select a destination point.  You can then change the destination point or middle-click to exit the command.

You can right-click and select Face Normal Direction Offset to offset the control points a specified distance determined from the projection location of the control point onto the face. If more than one control point is selected, the barycenter of the control points is used.

Optional Inputs are documented here.Optional Inputs

Fair

Apply fairing techniques to the selected control points.  This is the similar to the Smooth Face Shape command except that it only apples to the selected control points.  A condensed version of the operational sequence is provided below.

  1. Enter the allowable deviation from the original geometry.

  2. Select a fairing method and activate or deactivate the desired constraints.

  3. Pick OK to apply the desired fairing to the selected control points.

Insert Knot

Insert a control point on the selected face.  This option is similar to the Insert Knot on Face and Insert Knot on Curve commands.  This option has an additional Pick point option (see below).

  1. Select U-Parm or V-Parm for the knot vector to modify.

  2. Specify the knot value.

    Pick point
    - Use this option to pick a point on the selected face to locate the knot.

Insert Knot

Insert Knot at (U=0.5)

Analyze

Displays the Analyze Faces Form.  Modifications to this form will be applied to the face being modified.  This option is similar to the Analyze Faces command.

Isolines

Sets the number of isolines displayed in the U and V parameters of the face being modified.  This option is similar to the Set Face Isolines command.  Specify the number of isolines for U and V.
