About Custom Features
The Insert Custom Feature command allows you to combine multiple history operations beginning with a Custom Input operation into a single operation. The Custom Feature can gather input and then parametrically drive the subsequent operations.
Custom Features can be copied to the 3D clipboard and saved creating Custom Feature libraries. Custom Features can be used to create families of features from a single operation. Refer to the basic steps below for creating custom features. Refer to the Reference section for the Custom Feature command topics.
Show
me the Basic StepsDefine the sub-operations that
will be the basis of the Custom Feature. While
doing so, use the History Manager's Send command to send inputs from your
Custom Input command to your sub-operations as needed. Refer
to the Insert Custom Input command.
Use the Insert
Custom Feature command to combine your Custom Input operations and
your sub-operations into a single Custom Feature operation.
Test your Custom Feature operation.
Use the Explode
Custom Feature command to extract the sub-operation to edit and debug
the Custom Feature as required.
Use the Insert
Custom Feature command again to recreate the Custom Feature.
Repeat steps 5 and 6 ass needed
until the Custom Feature performs as desired.
Use the options of the Copy
Features to Clipboard command to save your Custom Features to a library
file. Refer
to the Insert Custom Feature command.
Use the options of the Paste Features from Clipboard command to retrieve and paste your Custom Features into parts as needed. Refer to the Insert Custom Feature command.
