Modify Part Dimension from DrawingUse this command to modify a part dimension from a detail drawing sheet.  This provides bi-directional associativity between the 3D part or assembly and its drawing sheets.  You can only modify part dimensions with this command and not sheet dimensions.  

 

Part dimensions are displayed when the "Show dimensions from part" attribute for a layout view is enabled.  Right-click on a view and select Attributes to enable this attribute.

 

First select the 3D part dimension and then enter a new dimension value.  When you execute this command the 3D part is first regenerated reflecting the new dimension value.  Then each associated layout view on the active drawing sheet is regenerated and the new dimension is displayed.

The 3D part dimension is modified updating the 3D part and the layout view.

 

 

Proceed with Caution!CAUTION: Use CAUTION when modifying part dimensions from drawings. This command modifies the 3D part referenced by the layout view.  If you do not want to change the 3D part, do not use this command.  Access to this command should be restricted to those individuals in your organization who are authorized to make changes to 3D parts.
