Projection

Menu access: Curve | Other curves | Projection

Description:

Projects a curve on a face from a given direction.

General philosophy:

  1. Select the curve to project.

  2. Give the projection direction.

  3. Select the reference face, you can select several faces of the same part with the Selection icon.

  4. Select other faces.

Available Option(s) :

The  TO A PLANE  button allows you to project the curve on a plane instead of a face.

In here, you can use the button  THROUGH POINT  to select a passing point for the plane and a reference plane (or planar face) to set the orientation of the plane trough point.

You can modify the reference direction using the  CHANGE REFERENCE DIRECTION  button.

You can ask to project the curve on all faces of a shape using the  ALL FACES  button.

When the result is made of several curves, you can choose to only keep the one closest to the selected point or all of them using the option  Mode= ALL CURVES  or  ONE CURVE .

The option  Sew curve= YES  or  NO  allows you to sew together the resulting curves.

In order to make the sewing possible, all the resulting curves must be joined.

Example(s):

Projection along Z- axis

Projection normal to the cylinder.

Specific point(s):

When you choose normal as the projection direction, the projection is made normal to the face.

When you choose a projection on one or several faces, the contour is trimmed on the faces.
