Division using angle

Menu access: Curve | Other curves | Division

Description:

Allows to divide a curve in several parts by using various methods.

The division creates new curves. The original one is kept.

Back to main page

General philosophy:

  1. Select the "angle" mode (second picture).

  2. Select the curve(s) to divide.

  3. Select the starting point of the division.

  4. Select the focal (reference point for the angles measurements).

  5. Choose the reference plane.

  6. Set the number of instances (and the distance if you are using the "mark out" mode).

Available option(s):

It is possible to set the associativity level between the original curve and the curves that result from the division by using the option   Follow= SUBSEQUENT OPERATIONS  or  EXISTING OPERATIONS  .

The option  Curves= INVISIBLE  or  VISIBLE  allows you to hide or not the original curve after the division.

There are two distribution modes:

In MARK OUT mode, the button  ON ALL CURVE  allows to make the division with the given angle along the entire curve from the starting point.

Example(s):

Original curve.    a = focal.    b = starting point.

Division using the "MARK OUT" mode.

Number = 4   Angle = 40°

Division using the "DISTRIBUTE" mode.

Number = 4

Specific point(s):

If the last part of the original curve is to small to be divided with the given distance or angle, it is not taken in account and do not appear in the resulting curves.

The division cannot be made properly if the focal is placed on a way that there are several intersection with the curve for a same angle.

In the example, you can see that for some angle values, there are two possibilities: the division cannot be made properly.
