Point on curve
Menu access : Tools | Points | Point on curve.
Description :
Allows to create a point on curve.
![]()
General philosophy :
You create a point on curve by selecting a curve.
You can choose the location where to create the point on the curve using one of the following options:
Near the picking position (option PICKING),
At the start of the curve (option START),
At the middle of the curve (option MIDDLE),
At the end of the curve (option END).
With a constraint distance on the curve (option CONSTRAINED POINT). Then you can choose your constraint distance from the entity start point or from another point on the curve. The constrained distance can be either:
a curve lenght value. The entered value is along the curve.
a lenght ratio. The entered value is a percentage of the curve length.
a chordal lengh. The entered value is like a segment with the end point on the curve.
You can select:
an EDGE of a shape.
a curve SEGMENT.
Specific point(s) :
A point on curve can be moved along
its reference curve with the
function (except point created
with the CONSTRAINED POINT mode).
The MIDDLE
mode is based on the curve parametrization. In the case of a b-spline
this middle point doesn't corresponds with the length curve middle point.
The length curve middle point can be created using the CONSTRAINED
POINT mode with 0.5 as ratio length value.

When you create a CONSTRAINT
POINT in RATIO LENGTH mode
using P1 as origin point, the
computation is done with the length located between P1
and the curve extremity P0.
