The assembly tree

Edit an assembly :

When you include the different element of your assembly a MAIN ASSEMBLY is automatically created, this is the assembly tree. To display it, you just have to open the symbolic tree and choose ASSEMBLY in the combo list :

You can use the assembly tree like the symbolic tree of an element, when you click on a part (component) with the left button of your mouse the color of the part's edges change.

Operations on the assembly :

When you do a right click mouse on the assembly name, a contextual menu appears allowing you to modify this assembly...

This menu is nearly the same than the one that appears when you edit a part and you do a right click mouse on the part's name (see Edit an element chapter). New available function are : Insert, Empty set and Sort.

The "Insert" function allows to add element in the set, for example it allows to add parts designed in the assembly document in the main assembly. Then these parts can be used in the creation of other assemblies, in the projection of the assembly or in the creation of an exploded view...

The "Empty set" function allows to quicky extract all the parts of the set.

The "Sort" function allows to sort the set's elements using different criteria :

  • Default : Sorting following the order of elements insertion in the set, the first element inserted is located at the top of the list, it is possible to move the elements in the tree.

  • Alphabetic : Alphabetical sorting on the element designations.

  • Type : Sorting following the element type. The standard components are located at the top of the tree, then the included components containing only one part, then the included component containing several parts (sub-asssembly), then the parts and then the repeated elements. Then the elements are sorted following the alphabetical order of their designation.

  • Chronological : Sorting following the order of elements creation (based on the element identifiers), the first created element is located at the top of the tree.

  • Chronological inverted : Sorting following the opposite order of elements creation (based on the element identifiers), the first created element is located at the bottom of the tree.

Operations on assembly elements (components) :

When you do a right click mouse on a part's name of the assembly, a contextual menu appears allowing you to modify this part...

This menu is nearly the same as the one that appears when you edit a part and you do a right click mouse on the part's name (see Edit an element chapter). New functions are available : "Extract", "Bill of material = SINGLE UNIT" and "Edit template".
