Symbolic tree
![]()
The symbolic tree allows visualizing
the chronological operations of a part or an assembly. It allows to change
any parameters and then to modify the part's topology.
Opening the tree :
You have certainly noticed a small
vertical bar between the graphic area and the visualization icons bar.
When you move the cursor on, the cursor is changed in two horizontal arrows,
at this time, you just have to make a clic with the left button of your
mouse and blank windows appear. This is the symbolic tree :

You can also use the Tools | Open/Close tree function or its shortcut.
After opening the symbolic
tree, you can pick an element to display its tree or choose an assembly
in the list :

Then, to edit another element, you have to do a right click mouse when the cursor is in the symbolic tree windows. Choose the Edit function in the displayed menu and pick the element that you want to display its symbolic tree.

Some functions automatically
open the tree, this is the case for functions like:
- Tools | Search (TopSolid/Design)
- Detailing | Search (TopSolid/Draft)
- Kinematics | Clash control set
-...
When the symbolic tree is already open, the tree of the edited element is replaced by the tree of the element under construction.
The element edition is a
transparent function, it does not stop the progress of the current function.
Closing the tree :
Like with opening, when the cursor changes into two horizontal arrows, you just have to left click with the mouse to close the symbolic tree.
You can also use the Tools | Open/Close tree function or its shortcut (Ctrl+²).
