Description :

Allows you to manage the bends of the part (automatic recognition and manual creation).

If the part has not been realized with radius, it is not useful to use this function. On the other hand, if there are radius, you have to use this function to allow to the unfolding to recognize the bends.

General philosophy :

You have choice between three options :

This function search automatically for bends on the part. At the end of the function, the following window appears :

  • When you select a bend, the bend corresponding faces are in red and the bend inside radius is indicated at the bottom of the window.

  • The Extract bend(s) button allows to remove the selected bend, the removal will take effect after validation of the window by    OK   .

  • The Automatic bend(S) merge button allows to group automatically the bends when they are separated by an opening (this bends have to have same radius, same axis and will be realized by the same bending operation) .

  • The Explode bends button allows to separate the merged bends.

  • The     UNDO     button allows to cancel, step by step, the realized operations.

 

When parts come from IGES files, surfaces defining bends are not systematically simples (i.e. B-spline surfaces). The function allows to recognize faces comparable to bend faces (cylindrical shape). You can visualize the recognized bends, delete it one or several or merge the radius value between each bends.

With this function, it is possible to select one by one the bends which are not recognized with the automatic option. (it is also possible to select as 2nd face an edge, for parts with a zero inside radius). The software recognizes a bend if the faces directions and/or edges are parallel (with a given tolerance).

Same operation that the final part of the automatic search function (displays the above window).

This option allows to merge bends manually in order to manage their bends allowances together. Bends must have the same radius and must be aligned, but they don't have to be linked by a face loop like in the automatic merge.
