With this option, you can select edges on your shape to ignore some faces on the computation of the splitting.

To do that, select all the boundary edges of the surface(s) you don't want to use. The selection can only be right if all the selected edges give a closed contour.

While selecting, the green points indicate the extremities of the selected edges.
