Unite: local operation

See also: Unite.

Menu access: Shape | Unite

Description:

Allows you to unite a shape with other shapes with the possibility to trim one with the other one .

General philosophy:

  1. Select on the  LOCAL OPERATION  button.

  2. Select the shape(s) to modify.

  3. Select the shape(s) to unite with.

  4. Choose the faces of elements which will be used in the operation.

Example(s):

The goal is to create a rib on the grey shape using the yellow shape.

To do this, we use the local operation mode of the union function.

With the button  TOOL FACES-EDGES TO IN-EXCLUDE  we select the red face using the include mode.

So, TopSolid suppress the part of the yellow shape that is on the other side of the grey shape.

Available option(s):

The  Hide tools= YES  or  NO  option allows you to set the united shapes invisible or not after the union.

 You can enter a radius in order to compute a fillet on the intersection edges of the operation.
