Menu access: Shape | Trim.

Description:

Allows you to trim a solid or surface shape by one or several faces of another solid or surface shape.

General philosophy:

  1. Select on the "BY FACES" option.

  2. Select the shape to trim.

  3. Select the trimming shape.

  4. Select the different faces to use from the trimming shape.

Available option(s):

You can choose to keep both parts of the shape by selecting  KEEP BOTH PARTS  button.

The  Hide tools= YES  or  NO  option allows you to set the trimming element invisible or not.

The  Follow= SUBSEQUENT OPERATIONS  or  EXISTING OPERATIONS  allows you to make the trimming evolve or not after its creation if you modify afterward the tools (addition or subtraction of operations such as pocket, drilling...)

 You can choose to use all the shell faces of the tool shape: after selecting the first face, select the  SHELL  button.

 You can choose to keep a gap offset between the trimmed element and the tool.

Example(s):

Starting shapes before operation

Classic trim of the grey solid by the yellow one

Trim of the grey solid by some faces of the yellow one

Specific point(s):

 This trim operation is interesting when the shape to trim overlaps both sides of the trimming tool.
