Rib using the "top edge" method
Menu access: Shape | Other operations | Rib.
Description :
Allows to create a rib along a curve that define the top edge of the rib.
![]()
General philosophy :
Click on the button CURVE IN PLACE .
Select the reference face.
Select the reference curve for the rib.
Define starting and ending conditions or validate.
The following dialog box appears, where you can set the different parameters of the rib.

Example :

The reference face is in blue.
The reference curve is in red.
Available option(s):
The buttons STARTING
CONDITION and
ENDING
CONDITION allows
you to set a point or a face for the starting and ending of the rib if
the curve does not goes through the faces that will support the rib.
The starting or ending conditions work only if the reference curve is in a plane orthogonal to the reference face.
You can set the curve invisible after
the creation of the rib by using the option Hide
curves= YES or
NO
.
In the dialog box, the option "Optimize" is useful in the case
you need to propagate the rib and the trimming faces are the same for
all the instances of the propagation.![]()
Specific point(s) :
The Rib function supports
an "in place" plane curve if its plane is perpendicular to the
reference face.
Even if the
rib is created with this function, in the draft, it will be cut anyway
in a cross section view.
