Rib using the "base face" method

Menu access : Shape | Other operations | Rib.

Description :

Allows you to create a rib with a planar surface as base of the rib and the reference curve built on this face.

General philosophy :

  1. Select the reference face.

  2. Select the reference curve.

  3. The following dialog box appears where you can set the different parameters of the rib:

Example :

The reference face is in blue.

The reference curve is in red.

Available option(s):

The button  NEW CONTOUR  allows you to create the reference curve using the Contour function.

You can set the curve invisible after the creation of the rib by using the option  Hide curve=YES  or  NO  .

You can define a specific direction of the rib extrusion with the  EXTRUSION DIRECTION  button.

In the dialog box, the option "Optimize" is useful in the case you need to propagate the rib and the trimming faces are the same for all the instances of the propagation.

Specific point(s) :

The curve must be parallel with the reference face.

In this mode, the reference face must be planar.

The curve must not extend beyond the reference face. It must be contained in the limit of the face or must end "in the shape".

Even if the rig is created with this function, in the draft, it will be cut anyway in a cross section view.
