Perpendicular

Menu access: Shape | Other shapes | Perpendicular

Description:

Allows you to create a surface perpendicular to an existing surface relatively to a curve or isoparametric of this surface.

General philosophy:

  1. Select the reference surface.

  2. Select the start of the perpendicular surface (ISO or CURVE).

  3. Give the length of the perpendicular surface and valid with  OK .

Available option(s):

There is two type of origin to buid the tangent surface:

 ISO

You need to indicate the parameter (between 0 and 1) that define the position of the isoparametric on the surface depending on the U or V chosen direction.

 CURVE

You need to select the reference curve.

It's possible to invert the created surface direction by using the  INVERT DIRECTION  button.

Example(s):

Perpendicular surface (yellow) using an ISO (red):

  1. parameter 0,5,

  2. parameter 0.

Perpendicular surface (yellow) using a CURVE.

Specific point(s):

The selected isoparametric is displayed on the reference surface.

The choice of the isoparametric has a great influence when using the curve option.

 If the surface is not created, you can reduce the perpendicular surface length. In some cases, the surface to create would be auto intersecting and TopSolid doesn't allow you to create such surfaces that wouldn't be possible to machine. Available modification(s):
