Patchwork
Menu access: Shape | Other shapes | Patchwork
Description:
Allows you creating a surface or solid using a net of crossing curves (minimum of 4).
Curves will be automatically divided into two categories: guide curves and section curves.
![]()
General philosophy:
Select the curves you want to use to create the patchwork shape.
Available option(s):
The option Mode=
SMOOTH or
MULTIFACES
allows
you to choose the way the shape is constructed.
With the smooth mode there is neither edges no discontinuity problems on the interpolation curves.
When curves are closed, you can choose
the type of shape to create with the option Type=
SOLID or
SURFACE
TYPE . When you choose the solid type, the created shape will be
solid if possible. If not, not any message will appear.
The option Curves=
VISIBLE or
HIDDEN
allows
you to keep visible or not the curves after the shape is created.
You can change the intersection tolerance
for the detection of the intersection between the guide curves and the
section curves and take them in consideration.
Example(s):
|
|
|
The blue curves are considered as guide curves and the red ones as section curves.
Specific point(s):
Curves must be intersecting.
The patchwork accepts intersecting
curves, but limits the created shape to the intersection.![]()
Each section curve must intersect
only one time each director curve.
Curves can be 3D or free form
(non-planar).
In case of the section curves
or guide curves are closed, you can obtain a solid. Faces are added at
the ends to get a solid shape. The added faces must be planar faces.
All curves of same type (section
curves or guide curves) must be all open or all closed and cannot intersect
each other within the same type.
In case of closed section/guide
curves, you need to have a minimum 3 section/guide curves.
Available modification(s):
By using the icon
, you can:
Change the creation mode (smooth or multi-faces).
Change the type (solid or surface type).
Change the tolerance.
