Description :

Allows to make a part "general" (in Parasolid terms).

General philosophy :

Select the part to generalize.

Available option(s):

The option  Mode= MAKE GENERAL  or  MAKE NOT GENERAL  allows to generalize or not the selected part.

Specific point(s) :

A generalized shape is a shape in which the geometry can be non manifold. For example a shape with an edge common to more than two faces.

When they are not generalized, this kind of complex shape are not usable by the Parasolid modeler. Generalized shape support only basic operation (Unite, Subtract, Intersect, Remove face, Imprint curve,...) other operation like fillet, chamfer, draft,... are not supported.

The shape generalization can be useful for modelizing structure for the FEM module TopSolid/Castor.
