Extruded shape
Menu access : Shape | Extruded
Description :
This function allows you to create surface or solid shapes by extruding a curve.
![]()
General philosophy :
Select the curve or text to extrude.
Enter the extrusion length or select a limitation point.
Available option(s) :
When curves are closed, you can choose
the type of shape to create with the option Type=
SOLID or
SURFACE
TYPE . When you choose the solid type, the created shape will be
solid if possible. If not, not any message will appear.
The option Alignment=
NORMAL or
CENTERED
allows
you to choose to extrude on one side or symmetrically from the section
curve.
The option Section
curve= VISIBLE or
HIDDEN
allows
you to keep visible or not the initial curve after the extrusion is created.
The NEW
CONTOUR button
allows you to directly created a contour.
You can dimension it with the AUTO
DIMENSION button.
The option Extruded
shape from = CURVES or
FACE
allows
you to create an extrusion from:
curve(s) : this is the default mode.
a planar face of an other shape : this mode does not modify the geometry of the first shape but create a new one. If you want the extruded shape to be part of the reference shape, you must use function Shape |Other operations | Extrude.
In this mode, you can choose the degree of associativity of the extruded shape with the reference face using the option:
Follow=
EXISTING OPERATIONS or
SUBSEQUENT
OPERATIONS ![]()
The >>
button
allows you to access to other options:
DIRECTION
:
Allows you to define the extrusion direction by selecting an edge or an
axis.![]()
: Allows you to define a draft angle. The shape will be doubly
taped if the alignment is centered.![]()
: Allows you to define a positive
or negative shift distance of the extruded shape compared with the section
curve and the extrusion direction.![]()
TRIM
:
Allows you to extrude up to a plane, a face or a point.![]()
Example(s):

Extruded curve in red.
The arrow allows you to invert the extrusion direction by clicking on it.
Specific point(s) :
The shape can be solid
only if the section
curve is planar and closed.
The default extrusion direction
is normal to the planar curve. If the curve is not planar the default
will be the Z direction of the current coordinate system.
You can select a text as initial
generatrix curve.
It is possible to use several
curves either included one in another one either disjoined. Use the selection
icon to select them. ![]()
It is possible to hide the red arrows
(which allows you to invert the direction by clicking on it). To do this,
you have to write the following line in the configuration file (\Missler\Config\top.cfg)
:
D_SH_NOMODIFIER [tab] 1
The value 1 hide the red arrow and the value 0 at the end of the line show the red arrow.
Available modification(s) :
By using the modify function, you
can:
Change the alignment,
Invert the direction (by clicking on the red arrow),
Change the extrusion length or the trimming,
Change the >> .
Move the segment that generates the selected face of the extruded shape by using the MOVE button.
