Draft
See also: Draft on edge, Step draft.
Menu access: Shape | Draft
Description:
Allows you to create a draft angle on one or several faces of a solid or surface shape.
The selected faces can be planar, cylindrical or conical.
![]()
General philosophy:
Enter the draft angle.
Select the face(s) to draft.
Start the draft on face computation by selecting the COMPUTE DRAFT button.
Select the reference plane for the draft computation. This plane defines the zero position.
Available option(s):
You can apply a draft and keep the
geometry of one or more edge(s) using the DRAFT ON EDGE
button.
You can apply draft with step using
the STEP
DRAFT button.![]()
The option Root
face= YES or
NO
allows
selecting all the adjacent faces to a selected face.![]()
Specific point(s):
You can select again an already selected
face in order to remove it from the selection list.
You can enter negative draft angle
values.![]()
The reference plane is the plane
where the position of the draft face is invariable. It must be perpendicular
to the axis for cylindrical and conical faces.![]()
When you have the apply draft angle
and fillets to the same face it is better to apply the draft angle first.
Limitation(s):
The face you can apply a draft angle
on are the following ones:
The planar faces non parallel to the reference plane,
The cylindrical and conical faces with the axis perpendicular to the reference plane.
Available modification(s):
Using the icon
,
you can modify some draft parameters:![]()
Change the draft angle.
Choose another reference plane.
Insert new faces into this draft operation.
Suppress the draft.
