Define simplified representation of a shape
Menu access : Shape | Mechanical / other operations | Define representation
Description :
Allows you to replace the representation of a shape with a more simple representation by using a supplementary shape.
It is then possible to swap between both representation using the symbolic tree or the function Shape | Manage | Change representation.
The interest of the function is to lighten big assembly and their drawings. Actually, once the element inserted in an assembly, you can change the representation used (detailed or simplified).

General philosophy :
Select the shape to simplify
Select the shape to use for the simplified representation.
Then you must set invisible (or move in an other layer) the shape used for the simplified representation. This must be made in order it does not hamper the visualisation of the file when the shape is in detailed representation. Actually, even if the original shape swap between both representation, the shape you created for the simplified representation stay visible.
To swap between both representation,you can use the symbolic tree or the function Shape | Manage | Change representation.
Example(s):

|
Symbolic tree |
Result |
|
With the detailed representation, it is the original shape that is displayed. |
|
|
|
In order to lighten the assembly, the shape has a simplified representation. This representation use a second shape for the visualisation. |

Available option(s):
Once you matched a simplified representation
with a shape, you can swap between both representation at any time: Edit
de part in the symbolic tree and right clic on the first line. In the
menu that appear, you will find the option to do this operation.
You can also use the function Shape | Manage | Change representation.

It is possible to remove the double
representation without deleting the simplified shape from the file. To
do this, edit the original shape in the symbolic tree then right clic
on the line name "simplified representation" and select the
"delete" option in the menu.
Specific point(s):
You can use an other way to simplify
the representation of a part. See: The
simplification cursor.
It is possible to get a list of all
the simplified part at the moment in the symbolic tree. To do this, you
must edit the "ELEMENT IN THE SIMPLIFIED
REPRESENTATION" set.
It is possible to get a list of all
the elements that have two representation (detailed and simplified) in
the symbolic tree. To do this, you must edit the "ELEMENT
WITH DOUBLE REPRESENTATION" set.
If you do the 2D projection of a document that contains double
representation of some elements, you can choose the type of representation
to use for the projection. See: Main
view
Once the projection made, you still can change the representation used in the 2D document by using the function View | Change representation.
