Chamfer
Menu access: Shape | Chamfer
Description:
Allows you to create a chamfer on edges or corners of a shape.
![]()
General philosophy:
Enter the first chamfer length.
Enter the second chamfer length.
Select an edge or a face.
Select the reference face for the first chamfer length.
Start the chamfer computation by selecting the COMPUTE CHAMFER(S) button.
Available option(s):
the option BREAK
CORNER allows
you to access to the "break corner" functionality.![]()
You can select again an already selected
edge to remove it from the selection list.
When you select a face, all
the outside edges of the face are selected to create the chamfer. In this
case, for a correct result, the reference face must be the same face.
The option
Follow
tangent edges= YES or
NO
allow
you to make an automatic propagation of the selection on all the tangent
edges.
The SAME
LENGTH button
allows you to give the same value to the second length as the first length.
In this case, the reference face for the first chamfer length is not asked.
You can create a chamfer by
length and angle by using the ANGLE
button
after entering the first length.
The OFFSET
button
allows you to create regular chamfer on non planar faces.![]()
Specific point(s):
When selecting edges, preview
of the result is displayed. You can set the color of this preview
or deactivate it through the menu "Tools
| Options" rubric "Shape".
Limitation(s):
It is impossible to create a
chamfer on an edge between two tangent faces.
It is impossible to create a
fillet on an edge ending on a singular point.
The chamfer length must not
be too large compare to the side face. If the chamfer overlaps it cannot
be created.![]()
However it can be done if the overlapping is done on a tangent edge.
Available modification(s):
By using the icon
, you can:
Change the chamfer values.
Add new edges on this chamfer
Suppress the whole chamfer ( GLOBAL mode) or only the selected chamfer ( LOCAL mode)
