Blend - Faces

See also: 3 Faces Blend

Menu access: Shape | Other shapes | Blend

Description:

Allows you to create a fillet surface between two set of faces.

General philosophy:

  1. Select the surface on the first side and choose its fillet direction (the red arrow indicate the side).

  2. Select the surface on the first side and click  OK .

  3. Select the surface on the second side and choose its fillet direction.

  4. Select the surface on the second side and click  OK .

  5. In the dialog box appeared set the different options of the blend and validate.

Available option(s):

The option  FOLLOW TANGENT FACES= YES  or  NO  allows you to automatically select all the tangent faces from the selected one.

You can choose the blend type for the fillet (ball or disk).

For the ball type fillet, you can define constraint edges.

You can choose the blend shape for the fillet (constant radius, variable radius, elliptical, parabolical and hyperbolical).

 The tab "Blend parameters" allows to define how the blend ends on its extremities.

 In the tab "Trim parameters", it is possible to trim the two groups of selected faces on both side of the blend.

In the case the surfaces are trimmed, it is possible to ask for sewing the blend and the surfaces by ticking the option "Sew faces".

Example:

Specific point(s):

You can unselect a surface by clicking a second time on it.

The radius must not be too big in comparison with the support surfaces (the fillet would extend beyond). It still can be built if the excesses occur on a tangent edge.
