Define in place connection

Menu access: Piping | Define in place connection

Description:

These connections are  which define the ends of the future pipeline and as well the dimensions of the connection on this point.

These coordinate systems must have their origins on the reference curve and to be normal to it.

General philosophy:

  1. Select the coordinate systems you wish to use as connection in place.

  2. Choose in the list, the dimensions (pair diameter and thickness) you wish on this end.

Specific point(s):

You can create as many connections you want, but only two connections can be used for the same pipeline (connections defining the ends of the pipeline).

If no any in place connection is used, the ends of the reference curve set the beginning and the end of the pipeline.

Example:

Reference curve

Extremity connections (or in place connection) with a diameter value 12 mm

Extremity connections with a diameter value 18 mm

By using in place connections, you can create several pipelines with the same reference curve.

Available modification(s):

Once you created a pipeline with "in place connections", you can modify the connections dimensions through the symbolic tree. To do this, edit your pipeline and right clic on the connection you wish to modify. You will have the function "Modify size" available.

This feature is available through the symbolic tree only if there is not any standard component in your pipeline. Otherwise, it is them that control the dimensions of the pipeline.

You can also modify the connection dimension by using again this function on the same coordinate system.

You can link a pipe onto the length of another one by using the function Assembly | Use process.
